I have faced this frequently with my Uniden DECT phone. The solution is simple.Press and hold the end key on one of the handsets, while holding the end key, press and hold the # key. After 2 or 3 seconds the handset should beep and read "deregister Handset" and underneath that "Base Unavailable". Select base unavailable option and confirm. Then handset should read "Handset not registered" now, you can place handset on base" Once you place the handset in the base it should register in 2 - 3 seconds and you are good to go, Sometimes you might need to remove the battery of the handset and connect it back and then repeat the above process.
thank you for posting this! it helped me adding a handset to my existing line.
ReplyDeleteWow! After two days of searching and figuring I just had to give up on a handset, your instructions worked perfectly! Now I have handset #5 in my house. Perfect instructions. Clear and surefire!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis worked perfectly. Tried many times to contact Uniden but they were always too busy to even take my call. One of their website solutions said I could find how to fix the problem listed in the Owner's Manual, no way! Yours worked perfectly. Thanks a million!
ReplyDeleteMy uniden home base phone rings, however when I go to talk, no one can hear me. It is a DECT 2188 series. Also, the 3 cordless handsets do not register even after trying all the directions in the manual.
ReplyDeleteLast week the phone rang, the handset I had off the charger base, had gone dead. When I ran to get the other one & picked it up, no one can hear me.
I pulled the batteries out of each phone. Unplugged the base power for a few seconds. Plugged the base power back in then plugged each battery back in and everything worked. The pressing the hold button and # at the same time would just go to an "out of range" error but the way I did it worked perfect.
ReplyDeleteHey there ... thanks a lot for this article ... My uniden handset broke ... so I ordered a new one ... when I fixed it was showing "searching" forever ... I followed the simple instructions above ... and voila ... it started working ... thanks a lot ... you are the man ...
ReplyDeleteThanks to the genius who figured this out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help worked perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much I combined two phones and went from 3 handsets to 5 yay
ReplyDeleteThanks. No help on Uniden website -- this worked !!
ReplyDeleteHad to take a moment to say "thank you".
ReplyDeleteHad to replace a handset and after visiting several other sites looking for help...and finding none...it was a real pleasure to find quick accurate help.
Your advice worked like a charm!!!!
I was about to give up until I found your instructions. this worked perfectly. Thank you Sudeep.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post. Was about to buy a new phone and saw this. Uniden's site was just about zero help. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information, this worked perfectly for getting our new/used handset to work with our original base. Only difference was that after I pressed and held the red "end" button and then the # button it took around 5 to 10 seconds for the deregister handset to come up on the screen. I then had to use the middle multi button to arrow down before "Base Unavailable" would show up. I then pressed the select button and then "Handset Not Registered" flashed on the screen and then I placed the handset on the base but it took at least 10 seconds, maybe more for the base and handset to register to each other. It now works perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your feedback Jeff .I am glad that it worked. :)
ReplyDeleteI have tried following your directions but no luck so far. Right now my two handsets are unavailable. My problems started when we changed service providers and now needed to use our Uniden again for our answering machine.I can not get the answering machine to work following Uniden instructions and now run into more trouble with getting no service.
ReplyDeleteHi - I did follow the above instructions but now the message I get is 'registration failed'
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting your method that works. Tonight I have two phones working again! Love it!
ReplyDeleteMine still doesn't work. Tried the `end` #, & nothing happens. I bought new batteries, etc. Still nothing.
ReplyDeleteWorked great for me. I'm very happy I found your article.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sudeep! The directions worked like a charm!
